In Kristianstad, there are exciting building blocks for creating a unique testbed for water-related innovations. The city is in the heart of the Vattenriket wetland area, which has been designated as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO. Krinova has a laboratory for molecular analysis, which is a joint venture of Kristianstad Municipality, Kristianstad University and Krinova Incubator & Science Park. It is also home to experience and expertise in successfully initiating and co-creating challenge-driven innovation projects. Close collaboration with the local municipalities offers experiment and test environments in e.g. sewage treatment plants, water treatment plants, port facilities and surface water environments.
